White House says new guidance exempts green card holders from travel ban

The event was live streamed on Facebook.

The fledgling Trump administration is expanding the scope of its immigration squeeze by targeting the foreign guest worker visa program amid a furor in multi-national corporations and a mutinous ferment in U.S. government circles. "It's not a travel ban", Spicer told reporters in a heated, Orwellian exchange.

When a reporter pointed this out, Spicer said, "Well, he's using the word that the media is using". "There's a big difference", he added.

However, the New York Times estimates that he drew a crowd about one-third the size of Barack Obama's 2009 record inauguration of 1.8 million.

News White House correspondent Kristen Welker told Spicer that a Monday tweet from Trump referred to the order as a ban.

A more impressive number turned out for women's marches around the world on Trump's first weekend as president.

Mr Spicer, at his daily press briefing today, said the refugees now held on Nauru and Manus Island would be vetted by the administration.

"You have been part of the confusion", he said to the press pool.

"A previous administration does something, you have to respect that but you could also say, why are we doing this?" Spicer asked. He pointed to Kelly's Tuesday press conference during which he pushed back on the report. Should have been thankful for the awful deal the USA made with them!

Sounds perfectly reasonable. The audacity of Australia trying unload on us these nationals who - let's face it - have a track record of blowing up and shooting Americans in acts of terrorism.

Following the conversation with the press secretary, members of the media panel responded to Mr. Spicer's criticism. The White House later said the comments were meant to be lighthearted.

UC Berkeley Chancellor Blasts Violence Over Yiannopoulos Speech
Campus spokesperson Dan Mogulof told reporters that the behavior of the protesters marks a shameful moment for UC-Berkeley. Yiannopoulos is a vocal Trump backer who has been called a racist and misogynist, among other criticisms.

"The president himself called it a ban", she said.

The US has a program developed by the Obama administration: People fleeing violence in Central America are being hosted in Costa Rica while their refugee applications are processed.

Under the Trump administration White House press briefings have been opened up beyond mainstream news outlets to include media on the fringes, including Larson.

Spicer also took questions from another Trump supporter, Jeff Jobe, a Kentucky-based publisher of six weekly newspapers.

"With conflicting evidence, Trump's team once again assumed an Islamic terror motivation that proved his recent immigration actions correct", the paper's Philip Bump wrote.

"The reason why he generated a lot of negative coverage is because of the things that he said during the course of this campaign", Mr. Acosta said.

According to CNN, transcripts from a phone call between Trump and Mexico's president reveal Trump is offering to help him knock out drug cartels.

Jobe asked when Trump would begin to reverse rules restricting coal mining, coal burning and coal exports. Being too hard on the Trump administration will only alienate conservatives further.

I hereby proclaim that the entry of nationals of Syria as refugees is detrimental to the interests of the United States and thus suspend any such entry until such time as I have determined that sufficient changes have been made to the USRAP to ensure that admission of Syrian refugees is consistent with the national interest.
Mr. Spicer said Monday there are no current plans to do this after the idea received significant backlash.

For the past two years Donald Trump spewed non-stop bigotry, lies, ethnic and outright racist rhetoric, hurling poisonous invective all the way to the White House and beyond. Reporters will continue to cultivate sources and pursue the truth. "We are willing to help with that big-league, but they have to be knocked out and you have not done a good job knocking them out". "And what we did was, we focused on, instead of religion, danger - the areas of the world that create danger for us".
