President Donald Trump to Meet With Canada's Prime Minister

Why Trump and Netanyahu might keep Iran nuclear deal after all

Prime Minister Justin Trudeau was invited to visit the White House, where he and President Trump held a joint press conference. She sat in the middle of her father and Justin Trudeau.

Trudeau noted the progress the two countries had made in the past on climate change and trade.

Trump described the government's raids against the illegal migrants as "a stance of common sense".

According to him, however, the "abiding respect" the two countries have for one another will continue. "The really bad ones, we're getting them out and that's exactly what we're doing", he said.

Trump's team faced some criticism after the president's press conference last week for taking questions from only outlets owned by Rupert Murdoch, who has deep personal and financial ties to Trump.

It is customary for the president of the United States to make his first foreign trip to Canada, but Trump was reportedly warned by Canadian officials that he might be confronted by protesters. It eliminated most tariffs between the three countries, as well as other trade barriers.

Trump reassured Trudeau over NAFTA, which Trump repeatedly ripped on the campaign trail, saying his focus was primarily on Mexico.

Repealing Obamacare is an opportunity
If not for federal subsidies, small business owners and our customers would be priced out of the health insurance market entirely. There are a lot of moving pieces here, and the GOP will certainly keep talking about repealing Obamacare for some time .

"We have a great, outstanding trade relationship with Canada", said Trump. "As we know, relationships between neighbours are pretty complex and we can't always agree on everything", said Trudeau; he could have said the same about the Obama administration. "We have fought and died together", said Trudeau, a staunch liberal whose nation has taken in 40,000 Syrian refugees.

With Trump, soon after he put a hold on allowing refugees into the United States and temporarily banned travellers from seven Muslim-majority countries in an executive order on January 27, citing the need to head off attacks by Islamist militants, the Canadian prime minister took to Twitter to say refugees were welcome in Canada.

Trudeau has panned the ban and welcomed refugees fleeing Syria's devastating civil war.

In justifying that measure, Trump said on Monday that "we can not let the wrong people in, and I will not allow that to happen during this administration", adding that he is being "praised" for his immigration stance.

And that wasn't the only viral Trudeau-Trump photo of the day.

The president and prime minister plan to announce creation of a permanent "United States-Canada Council for the Advancement of Women Business Leaders-Female Entrepreneurs".

Ivanka Trump, daughter of US President Trump, has been a strong advocate for more benefits for working women and was involved in bringing women executives from the US and Canada to Monday's roundtable. "They play a tremendously important role, women in our economy".
