SpaceX successfully launches on voyage to International Space Station

That was the site of the rocked launch that sent the first U.S. astronauts to the moon.

While SpaceX has plans to eventually fly NASA astronauts from 39A, Saturday's launch will have no passengers, and instead carry 5,500 pounds of cargo and experiments for the International Space Station.

It was the first flight from NASA's legendary Launch Complex 39A since the shuttle program ended nearly six years ago, and SpaceX's first liftoff from Florida since a rocket explosion last summer.

And just eight minutes after the initial takeoff, the first stage successfully landed at Cape Canaveral.

"Baby came back", he tweeted.

About 10 minutes after the launch, SpaceX refired the engines on the booster portion of the Falcon 9, guiding it down to a controlled, upright landing at a different part of Cape Canaveral. Over the course of about a month, the crew will unload the capsule and then fill it back up with payloads for return to Earth.

Restore-L is slated for launch in the 2020s, but before it can spruce up other aging sats, it needs to know what they look like.

The company plans to use 39A for NASA missions, such as the cargo run to the International Space Station that is scheduled to blast off at 10:01 a.m. EST Saturday.

NASA astronaut Peggy Whitson will monitor the spacecraft's approach.

Charter schools are public schools, and they would not be necessary if traditional public schools were doing their jobs. To help states meet the excess costs, the federal government supplied $11.9 billion in funding in 2016.

NASA started modifying the launchpad in 1975 for the space shuttle program. The first shuttle launch from 39A was Columbia in 1981.

The spacecraft is packed with almost 5,500 pounds of crew clothing, food, spare parts, science samples and equipment, an ozone monitoring sensor, a lightning mapper and experimental hardware to test automated rendezvous procedures. SpaceX will also take on the task of ferrying NASA's astronauts to the space station in a Dragon capsule modified for human transport as part of a commercial crew contract.

The STP-H5 Lightning Imaging Sensor will be mounted to the outside of the space station to help Earth-bound scientists measure the amount, rate, and energy of lightning strikes around the world.

The access arm and "white room" used by shuttle crews that flew from 39A-one of two shuttle-era pads-were saved as historical artifacts, and are now displayed outside the enormous Vehicle Assembly Building where the shuttle parts were assembled.

The Lightning Imaging Sensor, SAGE III and another instrument to learn more about autonomous rendezvous technology will be removed from the Dragon's unpressurized "trunk" section with the station's robot arm and mounted at different points on the lab's power truss. Nasa has also planned a rover mission to Mars in 2020. The Falcon 9 returned to flight in January for a satellite launch in California. "We've never seen such a platform like this enabled on orbit for science".

Two items in particular are getting the most attention.

A few hours later Musk tweeted again-another tweet ISRO can not ignore: "Daylight rocket launch & landing at the Cape this weekend".

"Some of humanity's greatest adventures in orbit began at Launch Complex 39A", Nasa said in a statement.
