House panels to launch fight in Congress over Obamacare replacement

White House Press Secretary Sean Spicer places his hand atop a stack of Affordable Care Act papers next to replace and repeal paperwork produced by House Republicans. The plan is facing backlash from many conservative groups

Trump also praised the House Ways and Means and Energy and Commerce committees for passing the bill to repeal and replace ObamaCare - though he had to be prompted before he remembered the latter body.

Overall, the plan is expected to cover fewer people than those who gained insurance under the Obama administration's Affordable Care Act.

The Medicaid cuts would also slash funding for treatment of drug addiction, which Trump had vowed to expand.

That which we now understand to be the Republican replacement bill would offer a tax credit to individuals based on age but not on income, if they do not get employer-based health benefits.

The replacement bill, as written, would reverse the coverage gains achieved under the ACA, causing many Americans to lose the health care coverage they have come to depend upon. The plan includes an "advanceable" tax credit, based on age and families size, which people can use to buy insurance. People who feel they don't want to buy health insurance are free to do so - at their own risk.

General Motors Sells Opel, Vauxhall to PSA for $2.3 Billion
Labour MP Gavin Shuker, whose Luton constituency covers Vauxhall's Luton plant, said: "Glad to see the uncertainty over the PSA/GM deal is now over".

Older, poorer New Yorkers would pay more insurance coverage under the plan, while younger, wealthier ones would pay less, Cuomo said. "As long as the other bill improves it, I'm going to vote for it". "Of course, every Democrat voted against it because the bill eviscerates Obamacare", he said.

In face of the opposition, U.S. President Donald Trump tried to sooth worries on a tweet Thursday, saying "Despite what your hear in the press, healthcare is coming along great". Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell has already said that he will bring a House-passed bill directly to the Senate floor, bypassing the traditional committee evaluation process, to expedite passage.

"Americans with unsubsidized individual-market coverage (10 million people) or small-employer plans (at least another 15 million people). are the ones who most need relief from Obamacare, and have the strongest motivation to politically support repeal and replace", Haislmaier argued.

One of the reasons for the uncertainty is because the Congressional Budget Office has not released an analysis of the bill, which would estimate the cost of how this legislation could impact the budget. The Medicaid expansion remains at first but new enrollment freezes in 2020.
