We're wondering about the future of health care

Not Released

Under the AHCA proposal, "Many people who have health care are going to lose it", Mario Molina, Molina Healthcare president, told the Post. He stated that many families are facing deductibles greater than $6,000. It's made health care coverage available to millions of Americans who previously couldn't afford it, expanded eligibility for Medicaid, blocked limits on benefits and assured that health insurance eligibility can't be denied based on preexisting conditions. What is the average deductible now? How will reducing the number of people covered by insurance in Colorado reduce anyone's deductible? For higher income people of that age, it would increase from about 7 percent to about 12 percent. As lawmakers work to re-examine this law, patients and the caregivers who serve them across Louisiana are depending on Congress to make continued coverage a priority.

NJ Spotlight's map provides options for seeing comparisons of tax credits by county for three cases: a low-income senior couple, a middle-income family and a middle-income 40-year-old.

This also matches with the nonpartisan analysis done by the Congressional Budget Office in a report released Monday. Over a 10-year period, the AHCA would slash $337 billion from the federal deficit.

One part of the GOP's legislation would roll back Medicaid expansion, which is provided for in former President Barack Obama's signature law, the Affordable Care Act.

Overall, the AHCA would encourage more younger healthier people to enroll, but it would discourage many older consumers from buying. I do have a problem with the taxpayer paying the bill for that coverage.

Critics of South Korea's impeached president Park call for her arrest
Two people died in demonstrations and frenzy following a historic ruling in South Korea to remove its first female president. Hundreds of demonstrators , both for and against Park, have gathered at the courthouse, which was blockaded by police buses.

The Medicaid expansion should be maintained with federal financial backing. The critics were joined by the insurance industry, the American Hospital Association, and American Medical Association and a host of other special interest groups. Kaiser's map allows for many other comparisons for enrollees at age 27, 40, or 60 with an annual income of $20,000, $30,000, $40,000, $50,000, $75,000, or $100,000.

The poll reported that 4 of 5 Americans strongly support provisions in the ACA that prohibit private insurers from denying coverage to pregnant women and from charging women more than men for policies, as well as those that require mammograms and cervical cancer screenings be provided with no out-of-pocket costs.

There are 106,972 people - 14.5 percent - in the 3rd Congressional District between the ages of 55 and 64.

As Tipton noted, "In its current form, the AHCA is not flawless". However, it also says 24 million people would lose health coverage in that same period.
