Cummins strikes pull India back, Pujara firm

Watch Another Sir Jadeja moment on the field pays tribute to MS Dhoni with his signature back-flick runout

For the first time in the ongoing series between India and Australia, there is going to be play on day five of a Test and what an exciting day of cricket is in prospect.

Murali Vijay, unhappy with Glenn Maxwell grabbing his right shoulder in an apparent dig at injured India skipper Virat Kohli, put the visitors on notice to expect some blowback. Cummins took four wickets by the end of the 3rd day with his magical spell. The final push was provided by none other than Ravindra Jadeja, who first scored an unbeaten 54 off 55 balls and then quickly snuffed out two wickets.

After an hour and a half of patience, India had found two of the biggest wickets they could have asked for - that of the captain and constant tormentor with the bat and that of the batsman with one of the best defences in the Australia team.

Ajinkya Rahane came to support Pujara, who continued his patient game braving the pace attack of Cummins and Hazelwood. He finally hit a boundary to the covers to get his 11th century and the first by his team in this series.

Once past his hundred, he too went for quick runs and fell to Steve O'Keefe who bowled a staggering 77 overs for his three wickets as Australia endured a tough day in the field.

He made clever use of his feet against the spinners and never allowed them to settle down on a wicket that aided some turn while he was extremely choosy against the likes of Cummins and Josh Hazlewood.

But Beijing is concerned that THAAD will breach its fences, prompting official protests and boycotts of South Korean products. In response, North Korean state media went so far as to criticize China implicitly for "dancing to the tune of the USA ".

Administrators give lip service to the primacy of Test cricket, but Pujara's story - especially when contrasted with those who have barely played anything more than tennis-ball tournaments - is proof that that is just nonsense.

Vijay and Cheteshwar Pujara (40*) had plundered runs in the morning session, bringing up a 100-run partnership without much fuss. The fifth day's play will begin at 9:30 am IST.

Asked if he feels like an improved batsman now, Saha said he has not changed anything as such and backed himself more.

"We have got to save the game", Australian coach Darren Lehmann said after play.

Needing 153 to make India bat again, David Warner and Matt Renshaw were welcomed to the crease by R Ashwin and Ravindra Jadeja. Starting at an overnight 360-6, Pujara-Saha added 75 and 68 runs respectively on either side of the lunch break. Both the pacers not only made the Indian squad unstable but also slowed down Pujara considerably. Almost all the work was carried out by four players with Steve O'Keefe sending down 77 overs.
