Trump administration considering military action against Syria

My fellow Americans, on Tuesday, Syrian dictator Bashar al Assad launched a terrible chemical weapons attack on innocent civilians using a deadly nerve agent Assad choked out the lives of helpless men, women and children.

Though Trump didn't mention it, both Haley and Secretary of State Rex Tillerson have argued that Russian Federation and Iran - Assad's two staunchest allies - must use their influence to prevent him from mounting further attacks. "We must show that no foreign power can or will protect Assad now". Syria's air defenses are robust, and existing legal authorities to fight Islamist terrorists likely wouldn't apply to a sovereign state like Syria. "The two things that Russian Federation doesn't want to see the U.S.do is strengthen their military and expand energy".

"Any data that the American side or our colleagues in other countries could have cannot be based on objective materials or evidence", Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov told reporters.

Facing his biggest foreign crisis since taking office in January, Trump suggested he may be taking a stronger stance against Assad, an ally of Iran and Russian Federation, whose country has been torn apart by six years of civil war.

That agreement came after hundreds of people - up to 1,429 according to a U.S. intelligence report - were killed in chemical weapons strikes allegedly carried out by Syrian troops near Damascus. It was blamed on the Syrian regime and prompted Obama to threaten military action.

"I talked to him this morning", she said, adding that she was in Washington at least once if not twice a week for the president's National Security Council meetings and was also working to keep United States senators informed. Although the trip had already been planned, it will focus in part of Russia's continued support for Assad, officials said Thursday.

The veteran Syrian foreign minister says he understands the implications of U.S. President Donald Trump's warning to Syria about taking "unilateral action", but pointed out that permanent United Nations Security Council members are "bound to uphold" the U.N. Charter and not "take unilateral action".

Moallem said Damascus wants guarantees that any investigation would be impartial and not politicized.

Moscow argued that the attack, which reportedly killed dozens of civilians, was the result of a Syrian air strike that accidentally struck a chemical weapons storage facility used by rebels.

Syria's Foreign Minister Walid al-Moualem denied on Thursday that it had used chemical weapons in the past and maintained that it never would.

"It crossed a lot of lines for me", he said, alluding to Obama's failure to enforce his own 2013 "red line" on the use of chemical weapons in Syria.

He complained that "the accusation fingers are directed at the Syrian regime", even though few concrete details on the incident had emerged. "The results of the autopsy confirms that chemical weapons were used", justice minister Bekir Bozdag told the state-run Anadolu news agency.

The World Health Organisation said on Wednesday that the likelihood of a chemical being responsible was "amplified by an apparent lack of external injuries reported in cases showing a rapid onset of similar symptoms, including acute respiratory distress as the main cause of death". "Autopsies were carried out on three of the bodies after they were brought from Idlib". But nerve agents like sarin are banned in all circumstances. "I saw them. They were dead".

Turkish officials said almost 60 victims of the attack were brought to Turkey for treatment and three of them died.

He also called for 72-hour cease-fires in the key zones of fighting so aid can get in, and protection for hospitals and evacuees who choose to leave violent areas voluntarily.
