Schiff Can't Say There's Evidence of Trump Campaign Colluding With Russia

Question Of The Week Kill The House Investigation Into Russia Trump Campaign

Flynn's attorney said this week he would be wiling to testify to officials investigating Russian interference in the 2016 election only if he is given immunity from "unfair" prosecution, but members of the committees have so far signaled that they're not prepared to make such an agreement.

Congressional committees and the Federal Bureau of Investigation are looking into allegations by USA intelligence agencies that Russian Federation meddled in the election campaign. The aide was not authorized to discuss private conversations and spoke on condition of anonymity. The company filed as a foreign agent last month with the Justice Department, acknowledging that its lobbying work a year ago likely benefited the government of Turkey even as Flynn was advising Trump's campaign.

On Friday, members of both the House and Senate Intelligence Committees were invited to the White House to review the materials that they say relate to the "unmasking" of administration officials, which is the issue that Nunes raised in Trump's defense. And I think the answer to the question is this effort to point the congress in other directions.

The White House acknowledged in March that Trump's transition team was aware before Flynn was tapped to serve as national security adviser that he had engaged in work that would likely require him to register his consulting firm as a foreign agent.

"If we're really going to get to the bottom of these things, it's got to be done in a bipartisan fashion", the Arizona Republican said on ABC's "This Week.". "He should go up there and do what he needs to do to get the story out".

Nunes refused to share the source of his information, but the New York Times revealed last week that two White House officials provided him with the documents on the surveillance, which Trump said was somewhat vindication of his wiretap claim.

Flynn's ties to Russian Federation have been scrutinized by the FBI and are under investigation by the congressional committees.

What Flynn could tell investigators are unknown. Look, it's, it's very mysterious to me though why, all of a sudden, General Flynn is suddenly out there saying he wants immunity.

"That's not asking for immunity", Nunes said, when read the statement from Flynn's lawyer by a CNN reporter.

In his statement, Kelner said the political climate in which Flynn is facing "claims of treason and vicious innuendo" is factoring into his negotiations with the committees.

"It certainly is an attempt to distract and to hide the origin of the materials, to hide the White House hand", Schiff said.

Flynn reported assets worth between $1.2 million and $2.4 million during the previous year. The lawyer described the talks as ongoing. The forms listed Flynn's income at about $1.5 million with up to $800,000 in assets - a modest haul compared to other top White House staffers.

The Senate panel intends to begin interviewing as many as 20 people, including Jared Kushner, Trump's son-in-law and one of his closest advisers, as early as Monday.

Testimony from Flynn could help shed light on the conversations he had past year with Sergei Kislyak, Russian ambassador to the United States, while national security adviser for Trump's presidential campaign.

Any decision to offer Flynn immunity would come from US attorneys and the Department of Justice.

"Anybody (especially Fake News media) who thinks that Repeal & Replace of ObamaCare is dead does not know the love and strength in R Party!", Trump tweeted.
