Kevin Durant won't play for Warriors in Game 2 of playoffs

OAKLAND Steph Curry didn't shoot well.

Following a left-calf strain that occurred in Game 1, the Golden State Warriors deemed it necessary to sit most valuable player and rebounder Kevin Durant from the Game 2.

"Pat's one of those guys where he doesn't show that he's overly confident, because he'll never say anything", said a delighted Draymond Green after Golden State's 110-81 dismantling of the Portland Trail Blazers.

Golden State is the best team in the league this is an absolute fact. But defense has been at the root of their rise from irrelevancy to perennial contention in the past half-decade. Maurice Harkless led the team in scoring with 15 points, Damian Lillard scored 12 points, CJ McCollum had 11 points while Shabazz Napier chipped in with 10 points but this game was a foregone conclusion after the third quarter where they scored just 12 points which was their lowest point total in any quarter this season.

"It's a series and points don't carry over", Lillard said of the blowout's potential impact on the rest of the series. How much of the offensive stagnation is on Westbrook and how much of that falls on his teammates depends on which side of the chicken-egg debate you stand on, but it did work well for them in a lot of close games this season. He got cooking after a typical Golden State post-timeout roll-to-lob play, and just kept bullying the Blazers' small lineups. All of Napier's points came in the second half once the game was out of reach.

Afterr the Barkley comment, the Warriors only performed better defensively.

The game was won on the Warriors' defensive end, where the Trail Blazers were harassed into 33.3 per cent shooting overall and a 7-for-34 night on three-pointers. They also defended the lane, using Draymond Green like an intercept fighter swooping in to eradicate Portland dribble drives. After combining for 75 points in Game 1, the duo were only able to muster 23 points. But the Blazers did nothing to make the Warriors pay for the hubris of sitting Durant. Patrick McCaw, in a spot start for Durant, slid with Lillard and spiked his layup out of bounds on one particularly impressive third quarter play.

O'Reilly's bosses not commenting on reports that he's out
NEW YORK (AP) - With its biggest star departing in another blowup over sexual harassment, Fox News faces some big challenges. Not long after, 21st Century Fox announced on Wednesday that O'Reilly won't be returning to the network.

"No, he won't play", said Kerr.

Golden State's early attempts from distances also sprayed off the rim, but I bet you can guess which one of those situations remedied itself first. "That was an incredible play".

"I just try to be efficient out there", McGee said.

The second quarter was where the game momentarily slipped away from Golden State. Rookie center Damian Jones appeared in his first career playoff game. He guarded Lillard and handled himself fine while staying aggressive on offense when needed.

In Washington, Bradley Beal scored 16 of his 31 points in the final quarter as the Washington Wizards seized a 2-0 lead in their first-round series with a 109-101 win. Starting center Zaza Pachulia had 10 points and four boards in 17 minutes, with his usual solid screens and team defense keeping everybody connected.

JaVale McGee was huge for the Warriors during Wednesday's Game 2 victory, making 7-of-7 shots for 15 points, five rebounds, four blocks and one steal in 13 minutes of action. Harden was seven of 17 from the floor, including three of seven from long range, to finish with a team-high 35 points and eight assists. The led shrunk to just a single point (43-42), then Javale McGee changed the complexion of the game.
