Zuccarello leads Rangers to 4-1 win over Senators in Game 3

Zuccarello leads Rangers to 4-1 win over Senators in Game 3

The Ottawa Senators look to shake off a tough loss in game three as they stay in NY to take on the Rangers on Thursday night.

Game 4 doesn't have to be a complete 180-degree turn from Game 3 as the Rangers have plenty to play for as well and are good at forcing mistakes.

Ottawa Senators goalie Craig Anderson (41) and teammate Ben Harpur (67) look away as the New York Rangers celebrate a goal by Michael Grabner during the first period of Game 3 of an NHL hockey Stanley Cup second-round playoff series Tuesday, May 2, 2017, in New York.

The Rangers were naturally desperate, trailing the series 2-0 heading into the game. "We played with speed, emotion and determination, and we got it done".

"At the end of the day, all we've done is win one game", coacb Alain Vigneault said. "I wasn't surprised by how they came out, we've been talking about it for two days now, and we talked about it with the players". We should all consider ourselves lucky it was only 4-1 and not something more embarrassing. "There's no doubt in that first period there we had pretty good pace out there".

St. Louis Blues at Nashville Predators (-170, 5)Preds lead series 2-1ABOUT THE BLUES (51-32-5-2, 36-40 O/U): The Blues will have to find a way to combat the Predators' versatile offense after being outshot 34-23 in Game 3 as Alex Steen scored their only goal in the second period, when they managed just four shots. Lundqvist stopped 26 shots for the Rangers, who host Game 4 on Thursday.

"The guys are still feeling good about our team, feeling good about our game", forward J.T. Miller said Monday at the team's practice facility. "Tonight, we made sure that, if they were going to get anything, they were going to have to earn it by working really hard". I think the guys like that.

"There's no question that we were the better team tonight", Lundqvist said.

Elsewhere, the Predators pulled 3-1 ahead against the St Louis Blues thanks to a 2-1 win in game four.

Amid reports of US NAFTA pullout, Mexico leaned on diplomacy
That's a whole other show you could do, but it's not just NAFTA. "It would be devastating to see that relationship undermined". While I know NAFTA has devastated many communities, maybe unwinding NAFTA in a way that isn't prudent can do even more damage.

Nash and Lindberg put the game out of reach during the second period, but both teams agreed Game 3 was won - and lost - in the first 20 minutes.

Zuccarello got the crowd fired up when he got the Rangers on the scoreboard 5:31 into the game.

"They were ready. They were hungry".

"There was nothing different that they did", said Boucher. "And we've gotta match theirs". But those number look great only on paper, as all that matters is Ottawa is up 2-1 and NY needs to send the series back to Canada all square at two. So how will Boucher manufacture the desperation that wasn't there Tuesday?

"We didn't give up that much", Lundqvist said. We do what we did against Boston (in the first round).

"It doesn't matter what you do and it doesn't matter what systems you use if we're playing like that we can't win any game not even a regular season game". We have to have the urgency, the battle level, that we normally have. It's a good learning thing for our group. "We have to improve on that".

Ellis tied the franchise record with a point in his seventh straight playoff game. Zack Smith left the game with an upper body injury, and it doesn't look like he'll be back for game 4. Brendan Smith led the Rangers with three blocked shots, two coming on the same penalty kill shift. The Senators have used the same lineup in all three games of the series. NY is outscoring its opponents 12-4 in the second periods this postseason. He replaced LW Pavel Buchnevich.

This was by far the Sens' worst game of the playoffs, just as it was the Rangers' best. "They started better and that's why they won this game".
