Raptors beat Bucks in six games to advance

The Raptors have now won and covered the spread in the last two games of the series.

The team ended its opening-round series against the Bucks with a roller-coaster 92-89 victory in Milwaukee on Thursday night.

The Bucks are trailing 3-2 in the best-of-seven series against the Raptors after dropping Game 3 and 4.

"Them talking, calming us down in the huddle being those leaders and just reassuring us we were fine", Patrick Patterson said. For a third straight game, the Raptors started Norman Powell instead of Jonas Valanciunas.

The Raptors had been 1-5 all time in Game 6's.

DeMar DeRozan delivered 32 points as the Toronto Raptors rebounded after blowing a 25-point second half lead to defeat the Milwaukee Bucks, 92-89, to reach the second round of the National Basketball Association playoffs.

The Milwaukee Bucks gave the Toronto Raptors a run for their money this game and in round one in general, and a number of flaws they exposed might end up biting the Raptors in their impending Eastern Conference Semifinal matchup with the Cleveland Cavaliers.

It's a little reductive to say that the Raptors go as DeRozan does, but his efficiency, or lack thereof, is a decent way of telling how their offense is flowing.

With their opponents waiting, Toronto and San Antonio will try to set up a pair of second-round showdowns in the two Game 6s on the schedule Thursday night.

Facing the possibility of incurring a monumental 3-1 deficit by losing Game 4 in Milwaukee, the Raptors knew their season was on the brink when they stepped on the court in Milwaukee for Game 4 last Saturday. Toronto was outscored 27-6, shot 15.4 percent from the field and 0-of-5 from three, and had more turnovers (seven) than made field goals (two). Tony Snell's inbounds pass on the ensuing possession was intercepted by DeRozan. He had 34 points. Let's breath a sigh of relief that these more than pesky Bucks are eliminated, and hope for better play in round 2. There will be much discussion about coach Jason Kidd's decision to only rest Antetokounmpo for 81 seconds, which surely contributed to the free throw trouble. "We don't need to overanalyze this; we got to the stripe and we just couldn't capitalize on that". "We got to the stripe and we just couldn't capitalize on that". Three years ago, the Raptors dropped Game 6 against Brooklyn before being beaten by the Nets in Game 7. After holding a commanding 72-48 lead with less than four minutes remaining in the third quarter, Toronto fell apart. The Raptors shot 46.3% from the field (19 of 41) and limited the Bucks to 35.9% shooting (14 of 39).

But Toronto gradually took control and led, 51-38, at halftime behind 16 points from DeRozan.

The Bucks went 18-28 from the free throw line as a team.

Whether or not Ibaka finds his shot on the road, the third-seeded Raptors could put up a lot of points against a second-seeded Cavaliers team that was tested in their first-round series with in, but managed to find a way to win.

Even Antetokounmpo, a renowned gym rat, looked exhausted with his hands on hips as he caught his breath during fourth-quarter breaks. His most wonderful number: he played 47 minutes.

A frenetic, towel-waving crowd helped fuel the Bucks.

"If you haven't (been) through that, you don't know it until you face it", Terry said. "I've probably read a total of four positive articles because my mom told me 'Read this!' Other than that, I'm just focussed on proving people wrong and accomplishing goals".
