Finally, some more of the Chibok schoolgirls are coming home.

She was among 83 teenagers who Boko Haram jihadists had agreed to release at the weekend but only 82 came back, said a spokesman for Nigerian president Muhammadu Buhari.

Tsambido said some politicians from Borno State were allowed to see the girls, who are now in the custody of the Department of State Services, lamenting that Chibok leaders, resident in Abuja, were denied access to the girls. "They will then organize to bring the parents to Abuja to see their daughters", he said. Nigeria's government exchanged them for five detained Boko Haram commanders. He says he can not travel the long distance from his home in northern Nigeria to the capital without the government's invitation and assurance that he will see her.

Numerous girls have managed to escape or been freed since then, but more than 100 are still missing.

Talks are understood to have started to free all or some of the remaining 113. "I really want to see my daughter, but I can't come unless with government invitation". This leaves the family on edge as they do not know if Sarah was among those released especially as the girls are yet to be reconnected with their families.

Chelsea Manning released after 7 years in prison
The military has not agreed to comment on Manning's treatment over the past seven years that she's been imprisoned. Manning was subsequently court-martialed and sentenced in 2013 with the opportunity for parole after seven years.

Thousands of people have been killed and about 1.6 million driven from their homes during the eight-year insurgency by Boko Haram.

Nigeria's presidency has released the names of the 82 Chibok schoolgirls newly freed from the Boko Haram extremists.

The parents of Chibok girls are also expected to arrive in abuja in a matter of days.

But families remain in Chibok, some 900 kilometers (559 miles) from the capital, Abuja. Writing in the New York Times, Adaobi Tricia Nwaubani said: "The campaign made them famous and, as a result, precious to the jihadists".

The minister, who condemned insinuations that the Federal Government had been shielding the parents and the media from having access to the girls, said there was the need for the girls to be taken through a process to relieve them of the trauma of their captivity.

Mr Shehu said the government was working to verify their identities, so they can be reunited with their families as soon as possible.
