Ariana Grande to perform at benefit concert for Manchester

Kiss cancel Manchester Arena show

Police said in a news conference on Friday that they had arrested a "large part of the network" behind the Manchester suicide bombing but that more arrests were likely.

More than 20 people were killed in an explosion following a Ariana Grande concert at the Manchester Arena late Monday evening.

Singer Ariana Grande has announced she will return to Manchester, England, for a benefit concert following a terror attack at her concert earlier this week. Police say that 1,000 people are working on the investigation, trying to track down bomber Salman Abedi's accomplices and piece together his movements in the days before the attack. Police used an explosive device to get into a property to make the arrests.

After the bombing Britain raised its official threat status from terrorism to the top level, "critical" - meaning another attack may be imminent. But he said there were still "gaps in our understanding" of the plot, as investigators probed Abedi's potential links to jihadis in Britain, Europe, Libya and the Middle East.

Prime Minister Theresa May made this announcement after leading a meeting of the government's emergency committee Cobra.

Ozil's corner was headed on to a post by Welbeck and Ramsey also hit the woodwork from three yards out. They got off to the worst possible start, going behind after just four minutes.

Security remained high at major events across Britain on Sunday, including the Great Manchester Run road race, where police armed with submachine guns protected participants and spectators.

"I'll be returning to the incredibly courageous city of Manchester to spend time with my fans and to have a benefit concert in honor of and to raise money for the victims and their families", Grande wrote. A minute of silence gripped the historical square as the crowd - many of whom were young girls similar in age to the Grande fans who filled the arena the night before - mourned those who lost their lives.

The number of people in custody in connection with this week's deadly suicide attack in Manchester increased to nine with the arrest of a 44-year-old man, police said. We won't let this divide us.

In her first substantive comments since Monday's attack claimed by the Islamic State group, Grande hailed the compassionate spirit of her fans and vowed not to give in to divisions.

"Until the operation is complete, we can't be entirely sure that it is closed", Rudd said.
