Putin: Russian state has never been involved in hacking

London/Moscow: Russian President Vladimir Putin said he likes guys like Donald Trump and wants to build better relations with the USA leader even though swirling controversies in Washington are making it hard for him to govern.

The House intelligence committee says it is issuing subpoenas for Michael Flynn and Michael Cohen - President Donald Trump's former national security adviser and his personal lawyer - as well as their businesses as part of its investigation into Russian activities during last year's election. "He can't be put in the same category as normal politicians". Putin added that while some see Trump's lack of political background as a disadvantage, he sees it as beneficial because "he has a fresh set of eyes".

The praise from Putin comes amid deepening USA probes into whether Trump or his associates had improper contact with Russian Federation. Trump has continued to dismiss the probes, labelling them a "witch hunt".

"Very soon, in one week, we are going to meet in Kazakhstan (for SCO)" where India's membership will be confirmed, he told Modi.

"If we assume that the four islands fall under the sovereignty of Japan one day, theoretically the United States could send troops there", said the Russian president.

"We do not have any tight (military) relations with Pakistan", he said, speaking through an interpreter. This is for the first time Indo-Russia summit in Russia was happening outside Moscow in St Petersburg.

"How can you be friends with someone you don't know?"

Rouhani says regional stability impossible without Iran
This group which has 125,000 soldiers is part of Iran's army and controls multibillion-dollar businesses in all sectors. He also called on Iranians to join demonstrations to show to the USA that they are not afraid of the threats.

"I can imagine that some do it deliberately, staging a chain of attacks in such a way as to cast Russian Federation as the origin of such attack", he said, according to A.P. (But) there is no other country in the world that we have such deep cooperation (with) in delicate areas such as missiles, and we benefit with cooperation with India.

While Trump, like other leaders, risks becoming overly constrained by the bureaucratic apparatus that surrounds him, Putin said he has no plans to give the billionaire advice on governing. When asked about the disputed region of Kashmir, he said "it is up to you" to assess whether Pakistan is funding terrorism in India.

"Hackers are free people, just like artists who wake up in the morning in a good mood and start painting", he said.

"If they (hackers) have patriotic leanings, they may try to add their contribution to the fight against those who speak badly about Russian Federation".

"This is due to the fact that a multi-polar world is being established, which the monopolists do not like", he added. Both Russia and India share mutual interests.

Putin warned that what he sees as an "anti-Russian campaign" hurts all sides.
