Church bus crashes near Atlanta, killing 1

AJC.com reported Fulton County police said 38 people were on board the bus at the time of the crash, which left four people in critical condition.

Of the 21 people injured, nine were immediately taken to nearby hospitals, according to Chief Larry Few with the Fulton County Fire Department.

The condition of the two people in the auto was not known, police said.

The church's minister of education, Terry Slay, told WXIA-TV 11th and 12th grade students, along with some adults, were on the bus when the accident happened.

Madison Baptist Association urged its followers on its Facebook page to be in prayer for the victims.

The National Transportation Safety Board said it was gathering information but hadn't yet chose to launch a team.

Church members said family members of those seriously injured planned late Thursday to travel to Atlanta.

Officials say the bus overturned and landed on the vehicle, now the road is blocked.

Camp Creek Parkway appeared to be closed in both directions as crews worked to clear the scene. Partrena Smith says one person was killed when the Mount Zion Baptist Church bus from Huntsville, Alabama, crashed Thursday afternoon. This story will be updated.
