Will Nevada Be the First State to Adopt 'Medicaid for All'?

Davis says health care act offers more hope to those with pre-existing conditions

Cuomo today directed the New York State Department of Financial Services to promulgate new emergency regulations mandating health insurance providers do not discriminate against New Yorkers with preexisting conditions or based on age or gender, in addition to safeguarding the 10 categories of protections guaranteed by the Affordable Care Act.

Cuomo said Monday that New York's health care exchanges created under Obamacare will continue to cover abortions, contraception and people with pre-existing medical conditions and will ban companies that refuse.

"If we really want to bring the USA more in line with other high-income countries with regard to health-care disparities, we're going to have to go beyond just achieving full insurance coverage", he told the Post.

Working families need higher wages, but until Congress acts to raise the wage, it's that much more critical for Americans to feel secure that they'll have health care when they need it. Trumpcare does the opposite.

Some soldiers and police officers have faced charges for killings during the protests and civilians have faced military tribunals.

A Health Care Service Corp. spokeswoman says the insurer has made no final decisions on its level of participation.

"It doesn't matter if you end the Medicaid expansion in two years or four years, or if you do it quickly or slowly - the bottom line is that Alaska gets hit with massive costs and roughly 33,000 Alaskan's will lose the health coverage they need". But if cost-sharing reduction payments are stopped, that increase would rise to approximately 30 percent. But officials with Kaiser said in an email that while they are no longer offering individual off-exchange insurance, they will still offer HMO plans, both on and off the exchange in the state. The new bill would allow states to charge persons more based upon their health history, provided the states set up pre-existing pools.

Charles Rothberg, a physician and president of the Medical Society of NY, said that while his organization applauds the new rules they could be an "illusory benefit" if lawmakers in Washington, D.C., sharply reduce overall funding for health care programs.

New York insurers have concerns about the plan, especially since the regulations to put it in place aren't yet available, said Leslie Moran, senior vice president at the New York Health Plan Association. But health care researchers have said they don't expect the exchanges to implode, though they do anticipate coverage holes to develop, especially in rural markets with smaller populations.
