UAE seeking 'change of policy, not regime' in Qatar: Minister

Qatar Airways Says Flights Operating Normally Despite Diplomatic Crisis

Anwar Gargash, the United Arab Emirates' foreign affairs minister, said in an interview that Qatar has "chosen to ride the tiger of extremism and terrorism" and needs to pay the price, despite Qatar long denying the allegation.

Turkish president Recep Tayyip Erdogan has ratified two deals allowing Turkish troops' deployment to Qatar and training the Gulf nation's gendarmerie, according to the presidency. "Kuwait, on the other hand continues to exert its good offices policy in an attempt to broker a solution to the crisis, but Minister Gargash seemed skeptic that the situation may change if Qatar remains fixated on its stand with regard to supporting extremists and terrorism and promoting that ideology via its many media, diplomatic, political and trade channels". That crisis end eight months later, but the roots of it are clearly seen in the latest dispute. "Again, this is Qataris speaking to worldwide media wondering whether this is possible at all".

Speaking in the German town of Wolfenbuettel on Friday alongside German Foreign Minister Sigmar Gabriel, Qatari Foreign Minister Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al Thani also said that his nation's hope was for diplomacy and dialogue. Officials quoted by Reuters said talks were taking place with Iran, Turkey and others to secure supplies of food and water.

A joint statement from the four countries said they sanctioned the groups and individuals because of "the continuous and ongoing violations of the authorities in Doha of Qatar's commitments and obligations". Qatar just finished one of the stadiums for the tournament, though others have yet to be built.

US number two diplomat in China resigns over Trump's climate decision
The officials spoke on condition of anonymity because they were not authorized to discuss the matter. Pomfret said Rank had called a meeting at the embassy about the U.S. withdrawal.

Qatar said it will honor its agreements with the United Arab Emirates (UAE) regarding the transport of liquefied natural gas (LNG), despite the fact that the UAE severed diplomatic ties with the Gulf state on Monday.

The embassy in Abu Dhabi posted the warning on its Facebook wall, saying the UAE government has announced a ban on comments or posts about the diplomatic crisis on social media.

On May 24, Qatar said its state news agency was hacked over two weeks ago and fake news items embedded, a claim that US Intelligence investigators confirmed earlier this week.

Al Qassemi also warned Qatar should not rely on hosting some 10,000 American troops at its al-Udeid Air Base as protection against the Arab nations lined up against it. "I think the Americans would choose to side with Saudi Arabia over any other country in the region".
