World Ireland Elects 38-Year Old Gay Man As Prime Minister

I hope I have made a modest contribution says Enda Kenny in humble Dail address

Kenny told the Dail Eireann, lower house of Irish parliament that he plans to travel to Aras an Uachtarain (official residence of the Irish president) to submit his resignation to President Michael D Higgins.

Martin said he wanted, on behalf of his party, to thank the taoiseach for putting the country first during his hard period in office.

The 38-year-old becomes Ireland's youngest leader.

Varadkar wants the United Kingdom -controlled region of Northern Ireland to remain in the European Union, easing economic and border security concerns over Brexit, which he has said appears more likely following last week's British election.

"When my father travelled 5,000 miles to build a new home in Ireland, I doubt he ever dreamed his son would grow up to be its leader", he had said.

Leo Varadkar will speak for a new generation of Irish men and women when he is formally elected the country's premier, his predecessor Enda Kenny has said.

Not Even The Referee Noticed Joe Hart's Blunder vs Scotland
Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain had broken the deadlock after 70 minutes before two Leigh Griffiths free-kicks put the Scots on the brink of victory.

Varadkar, a doctor educated at Trinity College Dublin, entered Irish politics in 2004, when he got nearly 5,000 votes in a local government election in the Dublin West constituency.

Varadkar himself has also downplayed his sexuality after coming out during a radio interview five months before Ireland voted "yes" on the 2015 same-sex marriage referendum in Ireland. I'm not a half-Indian politician, or a doctor politician or a gay politician for that matter. "It doesn't define me", he said at the time.

Although long-awaited, the transition of power has been relatively smooth with Leo Varadkar securing resounding support in a leadership contest, including huge backing among his parliamentary colleagues.

"Matt is just a very special person. But I can honestly say my motivation was always what I believed to be in the best interest of the Irish people", he said. Already his opponents are warning that the former health, tourism and social protection minister has plans to move the government further to the right.

Varadkar's policies are primarily viewed as centre-right based on his socio-economic views.
