Two jawans were killed in an exchange of fire along the Line of Control in Poonch in Jammu and Kashmir's Poonch district on Thursday when the Indian Army was fighting Pakistan's Border Action Team, which had allegedly violated the ceasefire, ANI reported.

Army sources said the infiltrators were spotted and engaged in a firefight "The infiltrators were fired upon". Two Pakistan Border Action Team members were killed in a firefight with Indian jawans and a third one escaped back across the Line of Control. The martyred soldiers have been identified as Naik Jadhav Sandip and Sepoy Mane Savan.

"Pakistan's BAT team intruded 600 metre within Indian side of Line of Control and 200 metre from their own posts", he said.

That attack too was carried out under the cover of shelling by the Pakistani troops.

A group of militants tried to sneak in from Pakistan- administered Kashmir but the bid was foiled by the alert troops, an Army official said.

Earlier on Thursday, at least, one infiltrating militant was killed in a clash with the Army troops along the de facto border in the State's Kupwara district.
