Adele cancels final 2 shows, blames damaged vocal cords

Adele performs at Wembley Stadium

"To say I'm heartbroken would be a complete understatement", the singer wrote in a Twitter post in the early hours of this morning, confirming that she'd had to cancel the performances on medical advice.

Singer Adele has said she is "devastated" after being forced to cancel the last two nights of her tour.

Adele added that she had felt so desperate to be with her fans that she had considered miming at the two Wembley shows. "You know I would not make this decision lightly".

In a Facebook status published on Friday, Adele announced that she's cancelling the final two performances of her 2017 tour.

A terminally ill grandmother has been left devastated after a cruel twist of fate has robbed her of her dream of seeing her idol Adele at Wembley tonight. The Wembley shows on Saturday and Sunday were to have ended a four-date run at the venue.

The 15-time Grammy victor said she had already "maxed out on steroids and aids for my voice" and that she was unwilling to lip-sync her performance.

Adele had previously hinted that her current tour, which with the weekend shows would have reached 123 concerts, may be her last. It wouldn't be the real me up there.

"Touring is a peculiar thing, it doesn't suit me particularly well".

Adele has in the past spoken candidly about how hard she finds touring and hinted on Thursday that she may retire from live performances after these Wembley concerts.

Last week, a letter that Adele personally wrote to her fans surfaced online after one of them found it in between the pages of her show's program book.

The singer made a bombshell return to the stage at Wembley Stadium tonight as she confirmed the worst - she has chose to hang up her touring boots and take a break from the road - potentially forever, The Sun reports. "I'm so sorry. Please forgive me x".

In March, Adele told the New Zealand Herald that she wasn't good at touring and only hit the road so extensively because of her fans.

'There will be more information over the next few days.

The weekend concerts were the last two of her tour which included 121 shows, beginning in February 2016.

"I'm sorry for your disappointment", she continued.
