Charlie Gard's parents: "There's nothing to lose"

London hospital reviews ending baby's life support

The UK's High Court will reconvene Thursday to hear new medical evidence in the case of baby Charlie Gard, whose parents are fighting doctors to keep him on life support so they can take him to the United States for experimental treatment for a rare genetic disorder.

Bambino Gesu' Hospital chief Mariella Enoc said Friday their researchers had put their treatment protocol for Charlie Gard at the disposal of Great Ormond Street Hospital and the London hospital was "thinking of trying to verify it".

Mr Justice Francis had ruled in April that ending life-support treatment would be in Charlie's best interests after a High Court trial.

Professor Neena Modi, president of the Royal College of Paediatrics and Child Health said in an open letter that Charlie's situation is "heartbreaking" for his parents, but added that even well-meaning interventions from outsiders can be unhelpful.

"Two worldwide hospitals and their researchers have shown these past 24 hours they had new items for the experimental treatment", said the hospital in a press release to justify this sudden reversal of the situation. At one point, the baby's father, Chris Gard, yelled at a barrister representing the hospital: "When are you going to start telling the truth?"

They say the United States clinician offering the experimental treatment agrees it will not reverse this brain damage.

'This continues to show Great Ormond Street Hospital's disregard for the wishes of Charlie's parents.

A judge is overseeing the latest round of litigation at a High Court hearing in London after "new" evidence was presented.

The petition in question urged the hospital to allow Charlie to go to the USA for experimental treatment, in spite of earlier court rulings and hospital opinions that Charlie Gard should be allowed to "die with dignity".

Carrizo Prices Offering of Stock, Debt
This change led market cap to move at $1.10B, putting the price -62.69% below the 52-week high and 6.49% above the 52-week low. Croft Leominster Inc. acquired a new position in shares of Carrizo Oil & Gas during the first quarter worth about $367,000.

"He deserves a chance", said Charlie's mother Connie Yates.

Connie Yates told Sky News that she wanted judges to listen to experts on his condition who say the treatment might help.

Charlie's case is expected to be back in Britain's High Court tomorrow.

"I will hear new evidence".

They said there was a "good prospect" of further evidence producing a different result. The hospital also offered to send the drug to Great Ormond Street Hospital - the British hospital where Charlie is being treated - if approved, the Post added.

The 11-month-old was born with a rare inherited mitochondrial disease that left him unable to move his limbs or breathe without a respirator.

The hospital said a court should assess the claims of fresh evidence and "make its judgment on the facts". "The view was that his epileptic encephalopathy was such that his brain damage was severe and irreversible that treatment was potentially painful but incapable of achieving anything positive for him", the hospital said in a statement.

When asked what they will do if the court rules in their favor Yates said they would "get on an air-ambulance and go to the hospital that want to try and save his life".
