Netanyahu Vows To Bring Home Guard From Jordan

US Ambassador to Israel condemns Halamish attack

Jordan has called for the removal of the metal detectors and thousands of Jordanians have protested against the Israeli move in an outpouring of public anger against Israel.

Jordan's foreign minister says the kingdom wants the situation at a major Jerusalem shrine returned to the way it was before the recent crisis over security measures there.

But the reliance on the king to do the responsible thing really shone through following the attack on the Israeli security guard in the Israeli embassy compound in Amman, and the guard's subsequent shooting of his attacker and another Jordanian bystander.

The incident occurred as tensions are running high after Israeli implemented new security measures around a religious site in Jerusalem, holy to both Jews and Muslims. Safadi called Israel's handling of the guard's return a "disgrace", commenting, "It would be appropriate if Israel acted diplomatically".

Following repeated clashes on the Temple Mount in late 2015 and the beginning of 2016, Jordan said it would install security cameras on the Temple Mount to "expose Israeli assaults and violations".

Israel claims that a 17-year old worker entered the embassy complex with a colleague to replace furniture before injuring the guard with a screwdriver.

A second Jordanian man at the scene, who was the landlord of the building, was also injured and later died of his wounds.

It's Easier To Shake A Mountain Than The PLA, China Tells India
The Chinese military has warned India that it must immediately withdraw from Doklam , a disputed mountain region along the China-India border.

Masaadeh said the guard had diplomatic and judicial immunity.

"The security cabinet accepted the recommendation of all of the security bodies to incorporate security measures based on advanced technologies (smart checks) and other measures instead of metal detectors", Israel announced early on Tuesday. The guard opened fire after being stabbed with a screwdriver.

A police statement said "a large scale investigation" has been launched and the Prosecutor General has been "ordered... to look at all the details".

King Abdullah also described the congratulations given to the security guard by Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu as "provocative".

It is believed that the Jordanian government is asking to conduct an independent investigation into the incident and has prevented Israeli embassy staff from leaving the premises.

Israel installed the metal detectors in response to an Arab attack that killed two Israeli police guards at the Muslim-administered holy site.

More than 300 Palestinians have lost their lives at the hands of Israeli forces in the ongoing tensions since the beginning of October 2015.
