The biased referendum for an independent Kurdistan in Iraq

The combination of a weakened USA imperialism, the impact of the unending world capitalist economic crisis, and the coming apart of Iraq and Syria in ongoing wars and factional battles between Shiite and Sunni, has given the Kurds a historic opportunity to advance their struggle. However, Kurdish officials say they will use it to pressure the Iraqi government in Baghdad to come to the negotiating table and formalize their independence bid.

Turkey has long claimed a special responsibility in protecting ethnic Turkmen. Iran's Kurds are close culturally to Iraq's Kurds and they speak the same Kurdish language.

In return, the referendum would be postponed until the end of the negotiations.

Tensions between the Kurdish Regional Government (KRG) and Baghdad hinge on oil revenue the Kurds see as the mainstay of a future Kurdish state. Numerous actions took place just as Washington issued a September 15 statement declaring its opposition to the referendum.

As Iraqi Kurds look forward to their upcoming independence referendum, the global community is sounding the alarm.

Iraq's central government previously threatened to intervene militarily if the vote leads to violence.

"They should have sent weapons to the Peshmerga, but they cut the budget", he said.

Google's Waymo Teams With Intel on Self Driving Technology
The hybrid vehicles are expected to form part of Google's ridesharing service, and are already being tested in California. According to the Reuters news agency, it is the first time Waymo has owned up to using an outside agency's technology.

"We reaffirm to the UN Security Council that our fight against terror will continue", he said, dismissing concerns that the vote would undermine the drive - which requires cooperation with Arabs - to crush ISIS militants.

The country has the largest Kurdish population in the region and is already battling a Kurdish insurgency. US State Department spokeswoman Heather Nauert said the price would be high "for all Iraqis, including Kurds".

Turkey is ready to mediate between Iraq's central government and the Kurdish regional administration to resolve disputes on constitutional basis and through dialogue, the statement added.

A former USA diplomat says there's no way to derail Iraqi Kurdistan's independence referendum next Monday, despite efforts by the US and other countries to have the vote postponed.

No regional or worldwide actor except Israel has supported the referendum.

In the town of Tuz Khurmatu in the province of Salaheddine, an official from the Hashed al-Shaabi paramilitary umbrella group has said he will not allow the poll. "They have distracted people with the referendum". More than 40,000 people have been killed in the conflict.

He warned the Kurdistan region would encounter economic and political hardships if it voted "Yes" in the referendum.
