Trump Replaces Travel Ban With New Restrictions On Eight Nations, Including Iran

White House declines to confirm or deny new travel ban

Sudan was dropped from Trump's original travel bans, the latter of which expired Sunday, while Chad, North Korea, and Venezuela were added.

Here's what you need to know.

Seven of the countries face wide-ranging restrictions, while the limits imposed on Venezuela will only apply to a group of government officials and their families.

The high court struck a compromise in June, when it let part of the travel ban take effect.

A total of sixteen countries did not comply with the rules at first, officials said, but half worked with the U.S.to improve their information-sharing and security practices.

Unlike previously, valid visas will not be revoked - and the order also permits, but does not guarantee, case-by-case waivers for citizens of the affected countries.

The new restrictions are indefinite in length and vary by country - and could be expanded to include others in the future.

For instance, foreign nationals from North Korea are banned, but a student from Iran will be allowed in, subject to "enhanced screening and vetting requirements", CNN quoted the White House statement as saying.

Meanwhile, Trump kept the controversial travel ban which was set to expire Sunday on five of six countries, namely, Iran, Libya, Somalia, Syria and Yemen, and lifted restrictions on Sudan.

Most citizens of Chad, Libya and Yemen will be blocked from emigrating to or visiting the United States because the countries do not have the technical capability to identify and screen their travelers, and in many cases have terrorist networks in their countries, officials said. Trump's ban on refugees will be addressed separately.

What is the reason for the restrictions?

Blac Chyna and Rob Kardashian finally settle custody battle
A report from TMZ claimed that the former couple had settled the custody war and it was Rob who paid a heavy price for it. According to her legal team, the most recent custody agreement "does not resolve all disputes between Chyna and Rob ".

In a tweet announcing the extension of the executive order, Trump said: "Making America safe is my number one priority".

DHS had recommended more targeted restrictions on foreign nationals from countries it says have refused to share information with the US or haven't taken necessary security precautions.

DHS has spent recent months working to develop a new security baseline, which includes factors such as whether countries issue electronic passports with biometric information, report lost or stolen passports to INTERPOL, and share information about travellers' terror-related and criminal histories.

Trump offered little insight on Sunday about what might come next, telling reporters only: "The travel ban: The tougher, the better".

What is being said about it?

President Donald Trump issued an executive order soon after taking office. Tell @realDonaldTrump that you will not be distracted. After that date, the new restrictions will begin. Trump wanted to ensure safety for the Americans.

The second version applied to six Muslim-majority countries and removed an explicit preference for Christian minorities coming to the US.

US President Donald Trump has issued a new order banning nearly all travel to the country from seven nations, including North Korea and Chad, saying that the citizens of these countries pose a threat to the US national security.

Critics have accused the Republican president of discriminating against Muslims in violation of constitutional guarantees of religious liberty and equal protection under the law, breaking existing US immigration law and stoking religious hatred.

Trump's fake empathy for Iranians rings ever more hollow, with his new and even more offensive travel ban against such outstanding citizens.
