Arsenal themselves nearly found a breakthrough in the first half with Egypt global Mohamed Elneny's cross finding Olivier Giroud but his header went wide.

The Gunners were below par all through the game and struggled to create chances or convert them.

Arsenal improved in the second half which wasn't hard given how poor they were in the first.

A number of first team players have not travelled for the fixture, but Wenger does select the experienced Petr Cech in goal.

Five minutes later, Red Star were in again after poor defending from Ainsley Maitland-Niles. They went to Real Madrid, they were very fearless and showed a lot of courage.

Giroud got himself on the scoresheet with another sensational strike. His blind back pass across Arsenal's goal was intercepted by Radonjic, but Cech pushed the shot over the bar.

Walcott and Wilshere grew stronger later in the game. Francis Coquelin offers experience in midfield, while Theo Walcott and Jack Wilshere tuck in behind Olivier Giroud.

Speaking ahead of the game, Owen made a prediction about Lacazette saying: "Neither side has been convincing this term but Arsene Wenger's side remain blessed with a wealth of attacking options in the final third and their new talisman Alexander Lacazette is fancied to score on his debut at Goodison".
