Trump plows for support in farm country

President Trump is making a stop in Nashville Monday to address thousands of farmers at the American Farm Bureau Federation convention

Trump opponents are quick to point out the ongoing agricultural concerns with vitally important trade deals and the continued uncertainty with immigration policies that impact farm workers, but Perdue emphasized that President Trump understands the importance of rural America as the breadbasket of the world.

President Donald Trump is greeted by military personnel as he arrives at Nashville International Airport in Nashville, Tenn., Monday, Jan. 8, 2018, to speak at the American Farm Bureau Federation's Annual Convention.

"Farm country is God's country".

"That is why today, in a few minutes, I will take the first step to expand access to broadband internet in America", Trump said before signing an executive order that declares the executive branch will use all viable tools to get broadband to rural areas.

The president also will highlight the tax-cut legislation approved last month by Congress, which he says will spare most family farms and small business owners from "the punishment of the deeply unfair estate tax".

President Trump says tax reform has ended the "death tax" that unfairly punishes American farmers. He said the "sleeper in the bill" is the ability for American farmers to deduct 100% of the cost of new equipment in the year the investment is made. "I look forward to working with President Trump as we write the upcoming Farm Bill".

President Trump received numerous standing ovations during his speech to the American Farm Bureau.

President Donald Trump gave a speech on Monday afternoon to farmers in Nashville, Tennesee, in which he told the audience they were lucky he gave them the privilege to vote for him.

"You see it happening every day", Trump said. President Trump stopped the streak Monday with his visit to AFBF in Nashville. He also said that farmers would be exempt of inheritance tax.

The president said he was working hard on renegotiating NAFTA to make it fairer for farmers and ranchers.

"The Republican Party's support for rural communities includes the President's promise to cut burdensome regulations that stifle growth. We plan to hold him to this commitment", Guebert said.

Trump also spoke of adding better internet connectivity to rural regions, something he hopes will increase job attraction to such communities.

"As we spread fertilizers, because it's all done by coding and we also have yield reports that are coming through on our iPads from our monitors, and everything is pretty much from a technical aspect gathering information and helping to make it easier for us to produce more crops with less input".
