Trump on climate change report: 'I don't believe it'

Climate Change May Chastise US economy US government report says

Seen in that light, and coming on the heels of the IPCC's alarming special report on global warming of 1.5 degrees and the devastating wildfires ravaging western states, the unexpected release of the climate assessment before COP 24 could start to look a bit like the government trolling itself.

Trump's White House, on the other hand, is dismissing the report saying that it is based on the most extreme scenarios for climate change.

"This assessment is the most enduring and authoritative statement of the science on climate change impacts on our nation, but true to form, the Trump Administration is trying to bury this years-in-the-making report by releasing it during a long holiday weekend", Representative Frank Pallone said in a statement following the report's release.

The actual cost of global warming was one of its biggest and most worrisome takeaways from the report.

What's more, because the Trump administration hurried up the release, their own allies seemed unprepared.

It also details how global warming from the burning of coal, oil and gas is hurting each region of the US and different sectors of the economy, and projects increased deaths and disease.

The US government caught people off guard this week by issuing a grave warning about the future of life in North America (and the whole planet) while people were focused on discount shopping.

President Trump vows to remain steadfast partner of Saudi Arabia
Weapons experts have said it would take Saudi Arabia decades to reconfigure its armed forces to use Russian and Chinese equipment. He said the United States intends to remain a steadfast partner of Saudi Arabia to ensure the interests of the United States.

And Donald Wuebbles, a co-author from University of IL climate scientist, said, "We're going to continue to see severe weather events get stronger and more intense".

Scientists who have been raising the alarm about the negative consequences of climate change for years welcomed the findings. With climate change, there are other facets of climate change: the frequency intensity of hurricanes, how often cloudiness occurs where you live, sea level rise.

But even as the Trump administration has sought to downplay climate science, claiming it is exaggerated or rejecting it as a hoax - as Trump himself has done repeatedly - it has never presented an alternative body of science that challenges the key findings laid out in the report, which builds on research conducted around the world.

During a press conference Friday, officials behind the report declined to answer questions about the timing of its release and why it contradicts public statements from Trump.

He had tweeted about record cold temperatures over Thanksgiving, adding, 'Whatever happened to Global Warming?'

"I don't believe it", he told reporters outside the White House before boarding Air Force One for a flight to Mississippi. "Instead, the evidence consistently points to human activities, especially emissions of greenhouse or heat-trapping gases, as the dominant cause". Critics say the timing of this release is not a coincidence.

The report also reiterated the officials" concerns regarding the "greenhouse effect", the gradual warming of the Earth's atmosphere associated with the anthropogenic generation of carbon dioxide, methane, nitrous oxide and other so-called "greenhouse gasses'.
