Ethiopian plane flight recorder reveals what happened before tragic crash

Flight Simulator Shows What It's Like Inside Plane Just Before Crash

Dagmawit Moges told reporters that the so-called black box from Flight 302 were recovered "in good condition that enabled us to extract nearly all the date inside".

- Boeing has stopped delivery of all new MAX jets to its customers after the crash in Ethiopia on March 10 that killed 157 people.

Last week, airlines across the planet began grounding Boeing 737 Max 8 aircraft, though it took a few days longer for the FAA to ground 737 Max 8 and 737 Max 9 jets flying with US airlines (making the USA the last major country to do so).

At the same time, the Department of Transportation has ordered two regional Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) offices to secure computer files related to the certification process of the plane.

The updates are meant to address how the aircraft's flight control system - MCAS (Maneuvering Characteristics Augmentation System) - responds to erroneous sensor inputs, the planemaker said https://boeing.mediaroom.com/2019-03-17-Boeing-CEO-Muilenburg-Issues-Statement-on-Ethiopian-Airlines-Flight-302-Accident-Investigation in a statement.

- Investigators have found strong similarities in the "angle of attack" data recorded by the Ethiopian Airlines flight cockpit recorder and data from the Lion Air jet, a person familiar with the matter said.

This was a second deadly incident involving the relatively new Boeing model in five months.

The planes in both crashes flew with erratic altitude changes that could indicate the pilots struggled to control the aircraft.

He added: "We are definitely in the fight and we know we have a strong team". "In this regard we are more prepared". 'We had our weaknesses last year here and there and we obviously try to fix those and do much better this year.

Dagmawit Moges told reporters on Sunday evening that data so far shows there is a "clear similarity" between the Ethiopian Airlines crash and an earlier one in Indonesia that involved the same type of plane.

U.S. regulators and safety experts are now asking how thoroughly the FAA and Boeing vetted the anti-stall system and how well pilots around the world were trained for it when their airlines bought new planes.

Both planes were Boeing 737 Max 8 aircraft. Both planes with 737 MAXs and used the MCAS safety system.

On the Lion Air flight, the initial accident investigation report indicated erroneous data from a sensor repeatedly triggered the anti-stall system and may have contributed to the crash.

Dennis Tajer, an American Airlines pilot and a spokesman for their union, said Boeing held a discussion with airlines last Thursday but did not invite pilots at American or Southwest, the two USA carriers that use the same version of the Max that crashed in Indonesia and Ethiopia.

United States authorities had called for an update by April and Boeing said it would meet the target.

In November, Boeing issued a bulletin on how to reset the stabilizer if it started to push the plane's nose down.
