GOOGLE SEARCH ALGORITHM

SAN FRANCISCO (Politically Illustrated) – Google changed their search algorithm to favor large media over independent publications, start-ups, and small family-owned websites, saying, "this update is designed to reduce rankings of low-quality sites."

“Google is trying to score marketing points,” Rick Newhouse, a software engineer in Seattle, told Politically Illustrated. “No algorithm in the world can determine what is ‘high-quality’ and ‘low-quality’ for every single user online. What is ‘high-quality’ and ‘low-quality’ is purely subjective. Users know what they like and don’t like. Let them decide.”

Another software engineer called the change the biggest “load of marketing bullshit,” saying,  “Google is building a filter to determine the quality of content. This new filter, not algorithm, will rank stories from large media, including Fox News, over independent websites and small-time blogs.”

The change from Google comes after large media companies started harassing the company with headlines on search spam.

“I wouldn’t be surprised if Google changed their algorithm after meeting large media companies behind closed doors,” said Mr. Newhouse. “Google already made a deal with AOL that places AOL’s content on top of most search results.”

“The company needs to be investigated.”
