WASHINGTON (Politically Illustrated) – U.S. Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton arrived in Pakistan on Sunday for high-level discussions with Pakistani leaders to improve relations with the once terror-prone country, according to online news sources.

“We need to change the core of the relationship with Pakistan,” Richard C. Holbrooke told The New York Times, who is a special representative to Afghanistan and Pakistan. “The evolution of the strategic dialogue, and the fact that we are delivering, is producing a change in Pakistani attitudes.”

Mrs. Clinton will announce several key initiatives to help Pakistan with agriculture, water distribution and public health, which will be funded by $500 million in American economic aid.

“When this administration came in there was a huge trust gap between Pakistan and the U.S.,” Vali Nasr told Reuters, who is a special adviser to Richard Holbrooke.

“Pakistanis are beginning to develop much more knowledge about what our intentions are, and with that comes trust.”
