WASHINGTON (Politically Illustrated) – United States Secretary of State Hillary Clinton said the U.S. is not going to attack Iran over its nuclear weapons development on Wednesday during a television interview on Al-Arabiya in Saudi Arabia.

“Obviously, we don’t want Iran to become a nuclear weapons power, but we are not planning anything other than going for sanctions,” said Ms. Clinton, reported by Al-Arabiya television.

“What we are focusing on is trying to change Iranian behavior, and the international community has been united in trying to send a message to Iran that it is time for it to clarify its intentions,” she said. “We want to try to get the strongest sanctions we can out of the United Nations Security Council to influence their decision-making,” said Ms. Clinton.

Under current proposals, the United States and other Western nations are offering to swap low-enriched uranium in exchange for fuel and a reactor. Iran has rejected proposals saying they will not shut down the plant producing low-enriched uranium.

“We make it clear here that we are opposed to several countries dominating the world and we will fight this system and will never let several governments play with the fate of the world,” said Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, Iran’s supreme leader, reported by the Los Angeles Times. “They utter lies against Iran over its nuclear programs, human rights record and democracy because the Iranian nation is steadfast and firm.”
