The White House, Britain and Pakistan have condemned the release of the classified documents, one of the largest in military history, which shows U.S. operations forces willing to target militants without trial and other accidental killings.
Mr. Assange told reports that what’s been reported so far has “only scratched the surface” and said his organization is still combing through thousands more files on the war.
The documents only describe a period of the war between January 2004 to December 2009, mostly during the administration of President George W. Bush.
Besides war crimes, the documents reveal a far less harmonious relationship between the U.S. and Pakistan.
The New York Times says the documents suggest Pakistan “allows representatives of its spy service to meet directly with the Taliban in secret strategy sessions to organize networks of militant groups that fight against American soldiers in Afghanistan, and even hatch plots to assassinate Afghan leaders.”
