Are Republicans Ready to Play Tough on Health Care? Eric Cantor: Bill “Non-Starter”

WASHINGTON (Politically Illustrated) – Are Republicans ready to kill health care? U.S. Representative Eric Cantor (R-VA) believes the health care bill being proposed by President Barack Obama is a "non-starter."

“This bill is a non-starter,” said Mr. Cantor on Good Morning America. “The American people right now are the losers in all of this because the signals coming out of the White House don’t bode well for positive health care reform.”

Mr. Cantor’s comments come as Democrats and Republicans are expected to meet for a non-partisan summit on Thursday held by the Obama administration to discuss improving the system.

“The president insists on bringing back a bill that the American people have resoundingly rejected,” said Mr. Cantor.

“After a year of historic national dialogue about reform, it’s time for both sides to be clear about what their plan is to lower costs, hold insurance companies accountable, make health insurance affordable for those without it and reduce the deficit,” wrote the White House in a blog posting, reported by ABC News.
